The Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus will be busy this Christmas season, with several performances scheduled. Beginning Friday and Saturday, December 5 & 6, they will perform at the Oregon Coast Aquarium’s Festival of Lights, doing 20 minute sets between 6:30 and 9:30 pm. On Wednesday, December 10, they will sing for the Festival of Trees at the Best Western Agate Beach Inn.
Thursday, December 11, the chorus will join with the Oregon Coast Chorus of Sweet Adelines to present a Christmas Program at First Presbyterian Church, 227 NE 12th St, starting at 7:00 PM. This annual event is a benefit for the Newport Food Pantry; there is no admission charge, but donations to the Food Pantry are encouraged.
Saturday, December 13, the Coastalaires will participate in the Victorian Christmas at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse Interpretive Center. Final performance of the season will be at the morning worship service at First Presbyterian Church, 227 NE 12th St., 10:00 am Sunday, December 14.
The Christmas season is highly anticipated by the Coastalaires, as an opportunity to share their music with the community, and to open the chorus for the season to men who are not members.
The Coastal-Aires meet every Thursday, 7:00 PM, at the First Presbyterian Church in Newport. All men, all ages, are welcome. No prior experience is required. Further information is available on the web at coastalaires.wordpress.com, or contact Mike Eastman at firstname.lastname@example.org or 541-270-4114.
The Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus would like to invite all men to join us to sing for Christmas programs in the area. The Coastal-Aires sing annually for the Festival of Lights at the Oregon Coast Aquarium, Dec. 5 and 6, and our Christmas Program, Dec. 11, in addition to some caroling around Newport.
The Coastal-Aires meet every Thursday evening at the 1st Presbyterian Church, 227 NE 12th St, in Newport from 7:00 to 9:30 PM.
All men, all voices, are welcome with no experience required, just the desire to enjoy singing with others. We sing caroling style, holding music, so memorization of music is not required. We encourage new singers regardless of ability to come and enjoy the camaraderie of singing in a men’s chorus. For more information, contact Jim Hoover, 541-574-1974.
The Oregon Coastalaires are seeking a front-line director to take over from our long time director, who is retiring, but will remain in the chorus. We are a small (18 members) performing chorus located in Newport, Oregon, drawing our members from throughout Lincoln County. We sing primarily in the Barbershop style, and are members of the Evergreen District of the Barbershop Harmony Society.
We strive to create a tight ensemble sound, entertain and serve our community, and foster the love of music, fellowship and camaraderie among our members.
We offer a small stipend to offset the expenses of our Director, and will support and encourage ongoing education, training and workshops to hone our Director’s skills and knowledge, especially as it pertains to the barbershop style.

The Coastalaires have put together another delightful evening of acapella singing, Sunday June 8 at 3pm, at the Newport Performing Arts Center. Join the Coastalaires, chapter quartet Vocal Point, Lincoln County’s own Women of Note, and special guests 2000 International Senior Quartet Champions Overtime.
Singing Valentines have become a tradition along the Central Coast, provided by members of the Coastal-Aires Barbershop Chorus. Every February 14th the Coastal-Aires dispatch quartets to deliver the music of love to your Valentine whether they are at work, school, home or anywhere else.
At the appointed time, the quartet will arrive and serenade your sweetheart with two songs of love and affection, and then present him or her with a long-stemmed rose symbolizing your Valentines Day love. Quartets will be available beginning at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. For further information, or to schedule your Singing Valentine, call 541-265-7191, or email choirboy1953 (at) gmail.com.
This year the Coastalaires have moved from our traditional May show date to a June 9 matinee. We hope this will better accommodate our audience. Special guests this year are the Gold Coast Chorus from Coos Bay. Come join us for an afternoon of song, all acappela and in the Barbershop style (which is more varied than you might imagine).
